Christian Education Director
Greg Halterman comes to Central from Westwood Presbyterian Church in the heart of Los Angeles, where he was director of children and family ministries for seven years. During that time, he built a thriving program that centered on the three cornerstones of Christian Education: education, fellowship and mission. Using innovative teaching methods and an intentional, theologically-grounded curriculum, he was successful in bringing spiritual growth to even the youngest of the congregation. By initiating periodic fellowship opportunities, he created events that became popular not only in the church community, but also in the community at large. And through projects such as the Manna Bag Ministry, he was able to bring the love of Jesus to the homeless in the surrounding community.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from California State University, in Los Angeles, with an emphasis in choral conducting and vocal performance. He has also studied at Fuller Theological Seminary. Additionally, Greg is a member of the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators, serving on the annual events committee that produces continuing education opportunities for 500 church educators, pastors and volunteers at a national conference every year. Personally, Greg is in a long-term relationship with Miguel Vargas and they have a 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Gus. Greg and Miguel enjoy entertaining, shopping for antiques from the 50’s and 60’s and traveling. Both are excited to be a part of the Central family and walking together on an exciting new journey.
