Visit Central

Visitors are always welcome at Central Presbyterian Church. Currently, we are unable to gather in person for worship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But please join us for worship online, either using Central’s Facebook page, or YouTube channel. We do have limited programs and activities, both digitally and in-person, that you are welcome to attend. Check out our events. We would love to meet you, and get to know you.

Central is located on the west side of Des Moines, just a few minutes from downtown, at the corner of 39th Street and Grand Avenue. It is easily accessible from I-235; just exit at 42nd Street and head south to Grand Avenue. The church is also just a block away from the DART bus route #60 which runs along Ingersoll Avenue

Central has two parking lots–one adjacent to the church on the east and north side of the building—with ample parking. Another lot is across 39th Street, west of the church with access from Grand Avenue. In addition, on-street parking is available on 39th Street.

Our entire church is accessible to those in wheelchairs or using walkers. A ramp on the west side of the building and two curb cuts on the east side of the building allow easy access to our sanctuary. A handicap-accessible door is located right off the courtyard on the east side of the building, with several designated handicap parking spaces nearby. Accessible restrooms are located in the Narthex and the 39th Street Lobby. An elevator in the education wing serves all three levels.

Childcare for children up to age five is provided each week in the nursery, located in the education wing on the first floor. The nursery is staffed by paid attendants, supervised by an experienced child-care worker on Wednesday evenings for our LOGOS program and Sunday mornings during the education hour and worship.
